Ashling have recently announced a major update to their PathFinder-XD C/C++ source-level debugger with specific support for Broadcom MIPS™ powered devices (known as the BMIPS5000 family). The support in v1.0.5 of PathFinder-XD includes:

  • On-chip trace (Zephyr) including setup and view
  • Multi-core and hardware thread debug
  • Dedicated L1 and L2 cache views with in-line editing

Commenting on the product release, Hugh O’Keeffe, Engineering Director of Ashling Microsystems, said “The BMIPS500 family includes many innovative debug features including an on-chip trace peripheral which allows real-time, non-intrusive trace capture using an EJTAG tool such as Ashling’s Opella-XD.”

Binh Truong, Director IC design, Residential Broadband in Broadcom, said “Ashling has worked very closely with our internal SoC development  team to provide many innovative features in their PathFinder-XD debugger. High-end debug features such as real-time trace, multi-thread support and cache visibility will help in ensuring our end-users can rapidly get to market with their Broadcom SoC powered designs”
