Ashling announces support for the PowerPC based MPC5500 family from Freescale (Motorola) ASHLING PRESS ANNOUNCEMENT Limerick, Ireland, June 2004: The PowerPC-based MPC5554 is the first product to be introduced to the automotive Powertrain market from the Freescale (Motorola) MPC5500 family. Based on the successful MPC500 family, the MPC5554 is designed for applications that require complex, real-time control. Ashling provides a unified environment for MPC500 and MPC5500 development with a range of tools for development, debug, integration, calibration, verification and validation, testing and software quality assurance. Support for MPC5554 is implemented on Ashling’s Genia and Vitra emulators offering developers a single hardware debug platform, with re-configurable support for the NEXUS-standard debug interface and OCDS debug interface. Used with PathFinder, Ashling’s source debugger, the Ashling tools provide the developer with powerful set-up and configuration options for Run-Through-Reset/Run-Through-Ignition debugging and trace allowing observation of the full sequence of processor events while the Powertrain control module-under-test is started from cold. The calibration tool interface allows shared use of the NEXUS or OCDS debug port on the unit-under-test for Debug and Calibration. A Trace Timing Performance Analyzer Window shows detailed timing information at function level for all captured code trace information. Commenting on the product release, Hugh O’Keeffe, R&D Director of Ashling Microsystems, Ltd. said "The built-in processing power of the Ashling emulation system and its sophisticated debugger interface, fine-tuned for the MPC500 and MPC5500 architecture, ensure rapid and trouble-free deployment of the development environment. In turn, this provides the developer with a fast, low-risk product development process. Future adopters of Freescale (Motorola) MPC500 and MPC5500 microcontrollers will gain from the power of the Ashling toolset to develop, debug, test and validate their applications." About
